Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - Focus on Resistance
This course will focus on Cognitive Therapy, Clinical skills, and specific strategies to use with resistant clients. Clinicians will learn how to identify cognitive distortions, automatic thoughts, schemas, and underlying risk aversion. The topic will also include ways to assist clients as they weigh the opportunity costs of change, challenge their fears, and explore ways to change. The webinar will provide an overview of the CBT Model of treatment as well as advanced skills.
Course Objectives
Learn about 4 empirically validated CBT interventions to help depressed and anxious patients.
Will understand the connection between cognitions, emotions, and behaviors.
Will recall 3 specific skills to use when engaging resistant clients in the treatment process.
