Intersectional Mental-Health

Nov. 19th | 3 pm-5pm EST | 2 CE's | Sogand Zakerhaghighi

Class Description

In this course, we will look at the ways in which individual experiences (based on sex, gender, spiritual/religious affiliation, post-immigration trauma, culture, age, race, ethnicity and socioeconomic status) can have a profound impact on mental-health. It is through this in-depth understanding of the various junctions that contribute to an individual's being, that we can provide personalized mental-health support that is truly catered to folks based on their needs. - Provide sound mental-health support that is personalized and allows the client to feel heard, seen and validated. - Recognize the gaps in the system that fail clients and make them uneasy to reach out for support, leaving them feeling isolated and hopeless. - Help support intersectional narratives that honour individual experiences to keep this movement going. - Provide a positive experience where folks feel safe as mental-health challenges often result in unsafe and unstable feelings and spaces. Instructors: Sogand Zakerhaghighi, MC, BA Sogand Zakerhaghighi holds a Masters Degree in Counselling (MC) and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Sociology (BA). She has also attained various certifications in Health and Wellness Lifestyle Coaching, Cyber-counselling, as well as Art Therapy Life Coaching.
